I found this in a little box tonight β€” an early logo of mine for Sensations in Grand Forks, North Dakota, back when the world was much smokier. In retrospect, I wish I had used a different yet complementary typeface for the second line, but it did the job.

I'm doing a musical trip down memory lane today, listening to some 90's music, and suddenly a 2Unlimited song hits me like a ton of bricks...

I don't usually listen to lyrics, most aren't worth the effort anyway, but listening to "Where are you now" I get reminded of a past love. Or better: the past love of my life. When she left, almost 13 years ago, my world came crashing down and I don't think I've ever completely recovered from that blow.

Where are you now? Do you think of us?
Do you think that it was worth it?
Where are you now? Are you alone?
Should I hope that you are waiting?

Damn, I think I need a drink now...

No matter how heavy or dark the day
Pity on those with no hope for tomorrow
It's never as bad as it seems, until we say"

The Love We Make
Emancipation (1996)

Finally free from his Warner Bros. contract, Prince celebrated with a three-hour triple album. There are many highlights. Strongest among them is the gospel-influenced "The Love We Make," inspired by the heroin-related death of Revolution guitarist Wendy Melvoin's brother Jonathan. It features one of Prince's most compelling vocal performances ever.

#ThrowbackThursday to perhaps the summer of 1990 when I and four other boys - two of whom I'd been to school with - went backpacking around the Greek islands for a couple of weeks. I've no idea which island this is nor the name of the boy on the right here on the beach but on the left with the leg kick is the organiser of the trip, Jason Roberts. Sadly lost touch with him after this.

Farewell, Jeeves: Ask.com shuts down

Ask.com, the search engine and question-and-answer service formerly known as Ask Jeeves, has shut down.

Ask Jeeves first launched in 1996 and, with its focus on answering conversational questions posed in natural language, was arguably a precursor to today’s AI-powered chatbots.
