Aaron Sorkin, Nicole Kidman – „Being the Ricardos“ (2021)

Kein Wunder eigentlich, dass dieser Film in Deutschland fast unsichtbar geblieben ist. Popkulturelle Gedächtnislücken sind eben hartnäckig. Lucille Ball und Desi Arnaz gehören eben auch nicht gerade zu Deutschlands kulturellen Fixsternen. Ihre TV-Serie war in den USA allerdings ein Urknall in der Fernsehgeschichte – bereits lange vor meiner Geburt. Schon um darüber etwas zu lernen, lohnt sich der Film dann doch sehr. (ARD, Neu!)

Das hier ist weniger ein Biopic als ein Denkmal. Jon S. Bairds Film über das späte Kapitel von Laurel und Hardy zieht keinen Vorhang auf, um Skandale oder verborgene Abgründe zu enthüllen. Er legt eine Patina der Nostalgie über zwei Komiker, die ihre größten Triumphe längst hinter sich hatten. Ein Film über Nachklänge und über das mühsame Leben nach dem Ruhm. Über die Frage, was von einem Mythos bleibt, wenn die Industrie, die ihn erzeugte, längst weitergezogen ist. (ARD)
