Nimesh Patel
Nimesh Patel is an American stand-up comedian and television writer born in 1986 in Parsippany-Troy Hills, New Jersey. He made history in 2017 as the first Indian American writer on Saturday Night Live, where he primarily wrote jokes for the Weekend Update segment and earned an Emmy nomination in 2018 for Outstanding Writing. Patel's career breakthrough came in 2015 when comedy legend Chris Rock discovered him performing stand-up in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, and subsequently recruited him to write for the 88th Academy Awards ceremony. He also wrote material for Hasan Minhaj's acclaimed 2017 White House Correspondents' Association Dinner performance. A regular at the prestigious Comedy Cellar in Greenwich Village, Patel has built a strong reputation in the stand-up comedy scene. Raised in an immigrant Indian Gujarati Hindu family in New Jersey, his comedic style is influenced by Dave Chappelle, Mitch Hedberg, Chris Rock, Larry David, and Patrice O'Neal. He continues to tour nationally and has cultivated a significant following on social media platforms.
