For some time I experimented with the fisheye-lens. Its perhaps also a period typical to amateur photographers, to try out all types of weird lenses. The fisheye looks fancy, but it is a very difficult lens to use well. It requires planning and being fine tuned to how the skewed perspective can be displayed in somewhat harmony. I think this is one of the shots I had that showed some success of that, and also have some originality. It is from an art event, and the women were attending as well as participating in the exhibition. Its a type of event I am well familiar with, and enjoy both visiting, photographing and talking to people there.

This is also one of those photos I think stand well by itself without much caption. Its someone I met in some context and had a good connection to, and he was not afraid of my camera. Such relational things are incredibly important when making a portrait of someone. Its most likely made with a Nikon fm2 camera - i had one that was gradually malfunctioning more and more, and it this was towards the end of its workdays. Its blurry - I like this, i think sharpness is overrated. Sometimes, less is more.

Barrel-fire outside a squat, Oslo, early 2010s. The place squatted is long gone, it was a huge old building that was demolished to make space for machinery and storage for the construction of a new segment of railway southwards. This was during a time period when many temporary unsanctioned squats appeared in Oslo, connected to a community of activists.

My notes says the film was arista premium 400, which was said to be repackaged kodak black and white film. Most likely I used an FM2 Nikon camera.

I like to try to get close to people when i make photos of them. I remember the context of this photo well, where we met and so on - but in relation to the photo it is not so important. I think it works very well on itself, without more explanation.
This is a 35mm black and white film frame, most likely from Nikon FM2.

Now to a Vivian Mayer-style selfportrait. Its probably from around 2012, from a nightclub. I believe the place was called Solyanka, a quite poshy place in Solyanka street in moscow centre. This was a large space in a classic architectural building and when i visited a meeting place of the arty trendsetters, cool creative freelancers, and well-off white collar business people. its long gone now, seems the place continued operating for some time, but searching online i dont find any trace of it mentioned since before covid.
It seems I have made this photo with cheap underexposed color film. At that time i probably didnt know enough to expose color film well, now I would have known to overexpose it 1 stop, or use a flash.

This is from a trip to Georgia i had in 2012. I was walking around with an acquaintance I made there, and he took me to a local cafeteria, were a couple of women chefs were working and cooking. We were on the way to try to find some food for his dog that was terminally ill, didnt stay to eat, but I remember the place as very authentic. I will return to photos from this trip later.
This was also a period i was very into low fi black and white film and soviet camers. I believe this was some cheap film i bought in Tblisi, perhaps Svema or somthing similar.
