The reviews and ratings are not the best and I wonder if it’s because a lot of movie critics are men and maybe they just didn’t get it.
I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything on screen that has captured so well the isolation, the monotony, the loneliness and the frustration of being a stay-at-home mother.
Amy Adams was brilliant in it and deserves all the nominations.

Chris ElliottThis movie was awful. The overwrought mom, the neglectful husband and the nightmare child are such overused tropes. Feels like this should have been made in the 80's when it would have felt relevant. The paintings in the end by Chinese-born artist, Junyi Liu, are quite amazing. A frumpy Amy Adams was kind of sad to see as she is better than this. #nightbitch #amyadams #film
