I had hoped to catch a sunset last night, but it was very overcast. However, I had some time to kill so I did a couple of errands and then made a nighttime hike up Buck Hill. I spent some time up at the top just enjoying the night view which I don't often get to see. And then it started to clear up. I could see some stars, but what really struck me was how all of the light pollution was illuminating the clouds. It was both scary and gorgeous.

Usually when I hike in the dark, I need to use a headlamp. But on this night I seemed to be able to navigate around the top of the hill with no problem. Was it because I was up there for a while and my eyes adjusted? There was no moon. When it was time to head down, I decided to see how long I could go without needing the headlamp, figuring that when I dipped below the tree line I would have to turn it on. But much too my surprise, I could see just fine. I was able to navigate the whole trip down using light pollution. Kinda wild, but a bummer!
