Watched the first three episodes of the #Daleks Master Plan back-to-back.

I enjoyed seeing #NicholasCourtney 's first on-screen appearance in #DoctorWho. Unfortunately Bret Vyon's story arc remains incomplete — the character dies in still-missing episode 4.

#SpecialEffects and model shots were pretty good for the 1960s but not referenced at all in the end credits.

"Written by the creator of the #Daleks, #TerryNation, the serial starred Hartnell and Purves alongside an early appearance by #NicholasCourtney as Bret Vyon, Adrienne Hill as Katarina, and Kevin Stoney as Mavic Chen.

"Courtney would go on to play recurring character, #TheBrigadier.

"But the 'dark and gritty' 12-part storyline was ordered to be wiped, and more than half of it remains missing."

Been rewatching Mawdryn Undead. I had forgotten that it was Turlough’s first story. Has there ever been another companion who started out as an assassin trying to kill the Doctor.

I like this episode, even though I don’t like the Black Guardian or Mawdryn, but I love that it’s actually a time travel story, particularly the (retired) Brigadier’s story.

One character I would love to see return is Brigadier Sir Alistair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart, but of course recasting is necessary... You know who else is posh, British, has jet black hair, square shoulders, a fine jawline and looks great in a moustache...

HENRY FUCKING CAVILL

Forty years ago was the last day of a fabulous Sci-Fi convention called SantaCon which was held at the Dragonara Hotel in Leeds. It was also guest Nicholas Courtney's 55th birthday. At the closing ceremony, a huge cake was brought in, and we all lined up for a piece. That's me in the picture being 'served' by the great man himself. Splendid fellow. He would have been ninety-five today.
