We had an abusive cop living in our neighborhood who was busted for letting his toddler roast to death in his truck.

Creepy ass Mormons said to give grace, and provide support.

I disagreed, and said anyone simping for someone who murders their toddler should drink fuckin bleach.

Nextdoor could have been a great tool for neighborhood organizing against ICE and fascism in general. Instead it's locked down tight, censored as hell, and full of frothing MAGA supporters.

I wish I could figure out some other way to set up a Signal chat for my neighborhood!

#nextdoor is a cancer.

I refuse to use Facebook, so I'm locked out of FB marketplace. That really leaves eBay, Craigslist, and Nextdoor.

I installed Nextdoor, and was immediately BARRAGED by emails and notifications. Every time I would get an email, I would hit "Unsubscribe", log in, and be told I unsubscribed. Then, I would get another email, hit "Unsubscribe" and move on.

After the fifth day of this, I finally went to investigate. Not only is there no global "Unsubscribe" email button that I can find, but there are 52 (!) different email toggles you have to check to never receive an email from this app.

Fifty. Two.

They are desperate to keep you on the app, and it shows.

Does anyone know if there is (currently or in development) a good #fediverse story which would cover this use case?

I just got a flyer from folks up the street (I don't think I know them, but am not actually sure yet) inviting the people in our house to join a #nextdoor group to discuss planning a block-wide garage sale.

I loathe nextdoor, but I will likely join anyway because I loathe the crap accumulating in my house more. :)

I would love to suggest "next time, maybe try this:" to them - but I don't actually have a good "this" to suggest off the top of my head. Anyone? (Thus far, all I can come up with is, "at least it's not Facebook")
