The 24th major version of the Android app from Nextcloud Talk has been released and comes with UnifiedPush support! It works with @nextcloud v34+, which provides support for web push.

You can now get push notifications on your browser, even if Nextcloud is not open, and on the FOSS flavor of the app, and even on Google-free Android devices.

I wanted to add that I have also be using a private instance of #BBB for some meetings (it is the official tool in the European University of Technology EUT+ meetings) and I would like to test Nextcloud Talk as well as #ProtonMeet but I hadn't yet...

Ich werde morgen in einem beruflichen Videocall sein, der leider in Microsoft Teams stattfinden wird. Dabei existieren datenschutzorientierte Plattformen, die aber - sei es aus Unwissen oder Faulheit - oft nicht in Betracht gezogen werden. Neben Nextcloud Talk und Jitsi Meet gibt es jetzt auch Proton Meet: proton.me/meet

Ha! Gerade eine Runde #DnD #discordlos über #NextcloudTalk gespielt. 🤍

Nach dem üblichen Spiel am Anfang ("Hört ihr mich?" - "Ich hör dich nicht!" - "Ton lief über falsches Device.") lief es dann über die Session echt prima.

Jetzt muss der Chat nur noch Filesharing lernen, damit wir screenshots und memes verschicken können, dann isses perfekt.
(So nutzen wir #Signal, das is erstmal auch ok.)

Bspw. Banking-Apps, Spotify, Sonos, AndroidAuto, DB, ... also alle Apps, die Google Sandbox Dienste benötigen. Und die Apps, für die Pushbenachrichtigungen sonst nicht funktionieren (#NextcloudTalk) würden.

Mon serveur #Nextcloud perso a un module de messagerie/appels audio & vidéo intégré, #NextcloudTalk, que je n'ai jamais utilisé. J'ai donc testé la messagerie instantanée hier, via l'appli Android et l'accès web. Et aussi avec des invités.

Ça marche plutôt bien! Avec un compte c'est mieux, on peut recevoir des notifications sur smartphone avec l'appli (mais seulement si installée par le Play Store).

Je garde la possibilité en tête si je vois une ouverture des autres... 🤷

Does anyone have any experience using nextcloud talk for video conferencing? I used it a long time ago and it was rubbish. our charity has a self hosted nextcloud instance on a hetzner CX33 machine. It has 4 vcpu and 8 GB of RAM. Would it work? I want to get my colleagues to stop using Zoom, but if nextcloud talk on that spec is glitchy it will set back my cause.
