question for those that use #nexdock I am heavily toying with the idea as my future device. I realize that most of my day to day does not require a ton processing power, mostly email, messaging, plex and maybe a video chat. I have an thinkpad t14 gen 1 so running on 6 years. It will go longer, but starting to use the steamdeck on the side and really liking it too. So anyone with nexdock what are you using on it? pi, phone, what not?

Need a new laptop soon. Just ordered a #SteamDeck for this purpose, now all I need is a #lapdock!

I've heard of #NexDock and #uperfect, but neither is available to order in my region and I might have to go with whatever fake brand I find on Amazon. If anyone has any experience or tips to share here, I'd love to hear it!

@imdavidpierce Hope you can see this, please reply if you do with a ~ or something.... But I wanted to share an idea I read on here about the #neo if a mobile phone can run the MacOS, what stops one from using the phone as the PC core if you will with something like the #NexDock. Do you think an Iphone or an Android 16 could just use a cheap nexdock in it stead? Be curious if TheVerge would up to test that out. :)

Anyone made use of a lapdock like #nexdock on here? Curious as I am considering it for at home with the #SteamDeck and eventually on the road with my #murena phone when they add that feature, but I am barely on the road with the need.

I may be one of the few people who has actually used a phone + laptop dock as my personal computer for over a year (Librem 5 + Nexdock). So how feasible is Nex's proposal here?

It really depends on what you use your personal laptop for. If the use cases are similar to a phone (web browsing, email, social media, media consumption, basic office utilities) then it's surprisingly feasible. Obviously it's less feasible for heavy development or gaming.

@Bluegrass_Addict @bruhbeans Agreed. Doesn't Android 16 already have the ability to "run Linux as an app?" Even on Android 15 and earlier people do this using @termux, proot, etc.

The dodgy surveillance OSes, Google Android and #Microslop Windows, get installed on the device, while the trustworthy OS, Debian #GNULinux, gets installed as a constrained and restricted app?

Whatever happened to people's brains?

Today, I discovered Localdesktop. It installs a Linux desktop on your phone based on Arch. I'm installing it now. I think is going to do great with my Nexdock I ordered.

I have a NexDock 360 (2-in-1/tent-able model) and its great; but they seem to do a model for a bit and discontinue it. Hopefully they release a new 360 model.

I appreciate the move to a full-size HDMI port; keeping track of the mini HDMI cable has been challenging.
