Tomorrow #NESS23 kicks off, the first (and so far only) event dedicated entirely to #NewsSEO.
Once again I'm really proud of the speaker roster we've managed to assemble, which this year includes awesome folks like @wilreynolds, @glenngabe, @LilyRay, @kevin_indig, and many more.
Promises to be another great event, with hundreds of tickets sold. It's consumed the last few months of my life, but as always it'll be worth it!
One unique aspect of SEO for news websites is that SEO needs to be applied to any article *before* it is published.
Changes made to an article after it's published are unlikely to have much impact on that article's performance.
Why is that? I explain this in detail in my latest edition of SEO for Google News.
Google has 'clarified' why sites may see their Discover traffic fluctuate wildly.
And by 'clarify' I actually mean 'waffle meaninglessly without providing clear direction'.
Basically, Google giveth and Google taketh away, and there's fuck all you can do about it.

Today is the last day of the #NESS23 Early Bird ticket offer - tomorrow the ticket price increases from $169 to $225, so grab yours today!
We finalised our speaker roster and schedule, and are very happy to confirm @kevin_indig as a speaker! Kevin will be talking about how AI won't replace writers but can make them 10x better.

The News & Editorial SEO Summit is coming back for its third year on 11th & 12th October 2023, with another epic roster of expert speakers from SEO and publishing:
I havenโt written a new edition of seoforgooglenews.com since May (I have several in drafts but itโs tough to find the time to finish and publish them) yet my subscriber numbers have just grown past the 7K mark.
Very grateful to everyone who signs up to read my infrequent ramblings about #newsSEO.
