The idea that the extreme hate on news TV is audience driven has little data to back it. On the other hand, there is plenty of data to show that hate in Indian media is top-down, driven by the government and media owners. Shoaib Daniyal writes.

The anchor was talking about a ferocious species of Dinosaurs, while the video being shown was that of a police person giving head-pats to a cute cat before the UK Prime Minister's residence!

Wion is the name of the channel, stands for World is One!

On the whole the channel is decent. there's no sensationalism, no screaming to get attention (doing which is typical in Indian news channels), the news content is engaging and to the point.

Gravitas is the Prime Time show of the channel, and it features the Editor of Wion. You know how Prime time news shows are, they tend to use a bit of emotion and voice modulation to catch people's attention. However, it's not as bad as others, and she does a decent job of it. 📺 📰
