It’s that time of the year, for the cool coastal phenomenon where it looks like something vile washed up on the beach. In reality, it’s these cool sea creatures called velella velella. They showed up on Nye Beach overnight - not there after sunset last night, blanketing the beach from one end to the other this morning. I went out to Yaquina Head briefly on a whim after running an errand to the hardware store. And the lighthouse was open for the first time I’ve seen when I’ve been there. Super cool.
