A town that's struggled with economic decline is turning dilapidated buildings into new businesses

In recent years, Pulaski has been working to help revitalize old buildings and work with businesses to turn them into things like a hotel, a skate park, and a new brewery that opened this year.

Something I often think about when I visit the #NewRiverValley is the disused railroad bridge across the New River between Radford University and the Virginia Tech golf course. I recognize that they are separate and competing athletics organizations and it is always hard to collaborate across organizational structures, but I can imagine some pretty big benefits to recreation and student athletics in connecting the two #virginia #RailsToTrails #RadfordVA #VATech #RadfordRiverwayTrail #BikeTooter
I’ve been a pretty lax #BikeTooter member thanks to 1. Charlottesville hilly 2. Charlottesville hot and 3. Charlottesville humid. I’ve been relaxing in the #NewRiverValley and enjoying the tons and tons of wonderful bike trails along the water here. I am deeply envious! We have a lot of work to do to keep up!

@ianjporter Pleased to meet you. I find that the hashtagging on profiles and #introduction pages does help connect with other people, #histodons, #librarians, #ukulele players and #journalists included ... although I'm still looking for more people geographically close to where I live in the #NewRiverValley of #Virginia.

When I woke up this morning, it was 16℉ (-9℃) and is now 14℉ (-10℃), without wind chill. This is pretty damn cold for Virginia, even in the mountains.

We still have power, so we're charging all our stuff and firing up the wood stove. #winter #BombCyclone #NewRiverValley
