The Frozen Lasagna syndrome.
Last night I was working on an Italo disco track. The usual stuff, my comfort zone, you know how it is. Honestly, a bit of a frozen lasagna situation, you know the result before you even start.
At some point this arpeggio came out and I just… stopped. Each chord was doing something different. It would open up, then close, go dark, then lighter. I had no idea where it was going and that was kind of the point.
I closed the italo disco project and opened a new one. It was like 11pm.
I don’t know if I’ll ever finish what I started. This morning I listened back and it still felt good, which doesn’t always happen, so maybe I’ll take it.
I mess around with AI sometimes, I find it genuinely interesting for images, advertisements, automations, coding. But for my own music I still do things piano piano. It’s not a statement or anything. It’s just that looking for the right chord, finding that one bassline that clicks, feels like something physical to me. Hard to explain.
Anyway. The italo disco track is still sitting there half finished.
Maybe tomorrow. Piano piano.
