MYSTERIOUS SKIN (2004): Finale of Gregg Araki’s Teenage Apocalypse trilogy is the best, and also the most disturbing and deeply affecting. Portrayal of child sexual abuse and the trauma it creates is stunning and frankly discomfiting. We are decades removed from the shock of Gordon-Levitt in a role like this given his prior work; with clear eyes, this is a great performance and a testament to his talent. I miss Michelle Trachtenberg. Really quite the film. #2000sfilms #newqueercinema
