The Canadian Heraldic Authority granted the City of Dawson Creek a new flag design as part of the city's 50th anniversary in 2008. But the city never moved to start using it until now.

Intergender: an intersex person whose gender feels connected, linked, influenced, or a result of being intersex. This term is used as a descriptor of one's gender (e.g. an intergender trans woman) similar to neurogender. It is also used as a gender in of itself (e.g. hir gender is intergender).

This is a new flag for intergender that I've created because I've been wanting something more minimalist. This flag takes the Carpenter intersex flag and inverts the colours, to reflect how inter*gender* is a complimentary term to inter*sex*. (I'm also influenced by interpunked's intergender flag!)

Deaf and intersex: this is a flag for intersex people who are Deaf! Mayer-Rokitansky-KΓΌster-Hauser Syndrome (MRKH), an intersex variation, results in deafness in many cases.

I've created this flag by taking the Deaf flag, and changing the colours to the yellow and purple of the intersex flag. Note that capital-D Deaf refers to Deaf culture - the meta-cultural group of deaf communities who use sign languages (ASL, LSQ, Auslan, etc) and the like.

The Deaf flag features a splayed hand to evoke signed languages. You can read more about it here: wfdeaf.org/deaf-flag/

Intersex and rare diseases: a flag for intersex people who have rare diseases, whether because their intersex variation is a rare disease, or because in addition to being intersex they have a rare disease (e.g. EDS).

The zebra is a common symbol of rare diseases. The design of replacing the ring of the intersex flag with a zebra head was created by queercripintersex on Tumblr in 2022. This version has a different zebra head on it.

Intersex and Plural: I've made a pride for intersex bodies who are home to Plural systems! The term Plural is used by people with Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID) and similar conditions associated with multiple personalities.

Plurality / multiple personalities / DID can develop as a result of trauma, which is sadly common amongst us intersex folks thanks to intersexism.

This flag takes the intersex flag, and replaces the ring with an ampersand, which is a symbol of Plurality.
