Trying to tie up 3rd offspring's (age 13) hair so it doesn't get wet in the bath, they can't tolerate it because it feels different. Just realising now why none of my children have ever let me put ties or clips in their hair when everyone else's kids came to school with elaborate hair styles.

It's been such an odd journey having children getting autism diagnoses as adults, seeing so many pieces fall into place about our family experiences (and about myself as well!)

I'm the neurodiversity (ND) rep for my kid's school Parent Association.

I asked for the christmas bazaar to open an hour early for the ND kids so they can go without queues and noise and crowds. Also setting up sensory room/quiet place for ND kids to take a break.

Such a simple request, and was so well met. I find that once I ask for reasonable accomodations and explain why, people are so happy to change tradition.
