Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 883 , Sunday 29/03/2026

Sunday started at around 07: 20 only because the clocks went forward they all read 08:20 - well all the ones that sort themselves out twice a year.

Made breakfast & did a couple of minor chores including trying out my new Go 3 screwdriver on a cupboard door that has been sticking - no more, tis all fixed!
The screwdriver works well although I need to remember this one has an adjustable clutch!

It’s been a windy, wet & generally ‘orrible day weather wise but we were snug inside & had a relaxing day,

Final Thoughts.

Off to my late MiL’s house again tomorrow to do a bit more sorting out - joy!

I need to tidy up in the box room in the next couple of days, the decorator is coming Wednesday evening to price up the job so it needs to not look like something out of one of those programs on demolition!

Burnout recovery involves leaving things behind

YouTube

Our society is set up on the assumption that the only reason people do anything is out of fear or discipline.

Our workplaces, schools, families, volunteer organizations, and the government are all structured to put fear into people, and relentlessly pressure them into being disciplined about doing things, whether or not they want to do them.

Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 882 , Saturday 28/03/2026

Saturday started around the usual time, around 07:15.

Breakfast was followed by a prolonged search for a new pint glass for Mrs S as I dropped her favourite one while I was washing up. We have a ceramic sink & while it looks great it is a bugger for killing anything that will break on impact with a hard surface!

It too me ages to find something suitable, in the end I got a LotR one off Etsy. Hopefully Mrs S will like it!

Then I had to clean the upstairs floors, always a fun job!

It was a day for deliveries this afternoon, first the cleaning kit I ordered for Mrs S’s iphone rocked up. It has lots of useful mini tools for getting into the charging ports & such. I gave the phone a good once over & it seems to work ok now.

The kit also came with some dust plugs for the lightening port, made out of aluminium of all things! I wanted to make sure that if the dust plug was removed it wouldn’t get lost so I got out my Dremel™ & drilled a tiny hole thru which to thread a length of fishing line. Or at least that was the plan - what I had not planned for was finding a whole new way to damage myself! I managed to drill right thru the plug & up into the base of the nail on my left hand 1st finger! 🙄🤦‍♂️ This of course bled profusely & required the application of a plaster.

My new set of screwdrivers rocked up later in the afternoon - the first full set I have ever bought, Dewalt ‘maxfit’ demolition ones. They look the biz, time will tell if they are any good. I also got a Bosch Go 3 driver, which is pretty awesome.
This all resulted in an afternoon spent happily rearranging various tool boxes & retiring the mixed bag of screwdrivers I have accumulated over the years - they have gone in my ‘backup’ tool box which is always a joy to pull out as I normally forget exactly what is in it, so there are numerous “oh I never knew I had one of those” moments.

We had a Chinese takeaway for tea & watched ‘Love & Monsters’ on Netflix - a surprisingly good & funny post apocalyptic movie about one wimp & his dog on a journey to find lost love!

Final Thoughts.

Not a bad day, despite drilling a hole in my finger &

Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 881 , Friday 27/03/2026

Friday started around 07:20.

Breakfast was interrupted when Mrs S decided, as she sometimes does, to lay a problem at my door. She knows that anything like that will steal my attention away from whatever I’m doing at the time - including eating - this time it was the fact that her iphone was not charging properly.
After some cleaning & a couple of resets I got it to charge. It needs a full clean so I have ordered a cleaning kit as I haven’t got anything small enuf to clean out the power port properly.

Then, while Mrs S went over to her mums I did my chores.

We had a relaxed afternoon watching a couple of Mrs S’s shows then started a rewatch of ‘Sherlock’. Not as good as Jeremy Brett’s portrayal of the great detective but a lot of fun nonetheless!

Pizza for tea, which was nice.

Final Thoughts.

A quiet day, didn’t spend too much time here because peopling is increasingly difficult at the moment.

Synesthesia isn't just in your mind. The body reacts as if the colors were real.

Pupil size in people with synesthesia changed depending on how bright or dark the perceived colors were.

Live Science
NB: the mods of r/ExplainLikeImFive decided this question was not good enough for them, after I put a lot of work into answering it, and I didn't want my work to go to waste, so here you go.

---

I have ADHD and this happens to me. To ELI5 it... did you ever have one of those cheap usb charging cords that's a little bit worn out, so you have to twist and bend it just right or else it stops charging? That happens in my brain (the charging chemical is called "dopamine") and if things aren't exactly right, it doesn't charge correctly.

Without dopamine, I'm not able to get the signal from my mind to my body. I can say to myself "ok, time to stand up! let's go pick up a dish and wash it!" and nothing will happen, the signal doesn't reach my body.

When I'm under external pressure, sometimes my brain will get a burst of adrenaline, which is like plugging the weak cable into a much stronger power source until it starts sparking. This
will get me charged and able to move again, but it also wears me out a ton afterwards.

The purpose of ADHD medicine and therapy is to repair the weak cable to my brain (dopamine uptake drugs), and to help me be more energy efficient so I can go longer on one charge (mindfulness exercises).

Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 880 , Thursday 26/03/2026

Thursday started stupidly early when my brain decided that because it was Lovely & light that it was time to wake up, despite being just after 6am.
I managed to stop the duvet from escaping for another hour but then had to get up.

Breakfast was followed by chores as ever.

We had a pretty relaxed day & went out for lunch again to a place we haven’t been to for a long time. They have done it up since then & its a really nice restaurant now.

Finished our our JP fest with this years instalment - ‘Rebirth’ which was ok on the ‘turn your brain off & enjoy the fun’ meter.

Managed to get hold of a decorator, he’s coming to price up for wallpapering & painting the box room.

Final Thoughts.

Not a bad day, it would have been better with a little help with the chores but hey ho.

Diary of an AuDHD Squirrel. Day 879 , Wednesday 25/03/2026

Wednesday started around 07:15. The usual start to the day making breakfast for the two of us & then chores.

The weather was rubbish this morning, cold, windy & snowy!

We drove across to my late MiL’s house, I fitted a new toilet seat, the old one was removed when the house was converted to help my MiL when she got ill.

We also started on the loft, a job & a half!

We worked thru till lunch then called it a day & stopped off for a bite of lunch at a pub we know.

Got home in time for coffee & a piece of birthday cake!

We continued our Jurassic Park fest with Fallen Kingdom & then Dominion.

Final Thoughts.

A busy day but we did get a lot done at my MiLs. There does seem to be endless stuff there though!

My Mum passed on this day in 2019, just before the pandemic, which was a blessing she would not have fared well under full lockdown I suspect.
I miss her every day but most of all on this day.
