A brand new year begins today here in #Nepal

2082 was certainly..... a year, for our little country.

A lot happened.. A lot of pain, loss, of innocent lives, of young heroes who wanted to be a part of the change.

But through it all, came a lot of change. Huge, systemic change. A revolution! New faces, ideas, leadership. A promise of change, and to honor those we lost bringing it.

There is newfound hope. So while I can't exactly promise happy, I wish my fellow #Nepali a Hopeful New Year 2083!

#Fraud investgators have found over 300 fake rescues for #MtEverest climbers between 2022 and 2025. These actions have racked up nearly $20 million in fraudulent #insurance claims. The #Kathmandu Post first exposed the fake remote #rescue network in 2018, prompting a recent 700-page gov't report investigating 10 #helicopter providers, and six #corrupt #hospitals, working with 36 shady #travel and #rescue agencies. #Nepali police say the network persists due to difficulty to audit & reach #Everest and confirm #insurancefraud.

In some cases, #drugs are administered to simulate altitude sickness and baking soda mixed into food to make trekkers appear ill.
