Owing to the operational independence of logistics corporations - and the relative weakness of terrestrial governments compared to metanational corps - the Interplanetary Shipments Treaty grants signatories the right to enforce security in whatever manner they see fit. The IST thus allows the issuance of security operator licenses to designated staff. In the frontier, these licenses are often distributed on an as-needed basis to locals, effectively "deputizing" them as enforcers.

[Behind the scenes: I like decorative PCBs. This one uses a black core and clear solder mask, which makes for some cool colors. If you look closely, the black core has some interesting color variation around the copper traces.]

Perhaps my first set for photos was here: https://epii.info/anime/2011/Lain/

My coolest (IMO): https://epii.info/anime/2016/c2-r2/

And the set that got the most use is this wall: https://epii.info/anime/2014/otonashi/blood-saya-5573 + https://epii.info/anime/2013/oboromuramasa/d8c_6770 + others

(This building spaces sub-hobby has since migrated into #BurningMan and #Neotropolis projects - I don't have a place to do such sets for photos where I live now)

It's an incredible thing to have something in my head and then in my hands, or seeing myself wear it in a mirror. It was even more surreal to imagine a space and then be standing in that thing from my imagination.

It still feels a bit hard to believe seeing photos from #Neotropolis last week - this place that people have these cool photos from is the place that previously existed only in my head.

This year's upgrades are the fans and the ceiling. More was planned, maybe for next year.

I'll probably miss #makershour because I'm at #Neotropolis, but here's a follow up of the completed build I had been working towards in some past posts.

New this year is the ceiling and the extra height with the fans. Two of the fans run slow for cinematic effect. The ceiling was tricky to engineer for portability. In the end, I rented a small truck instead of a van to make things easier to transport.

@MakersHour
Q1: what's up?

A1: structural work for my #Neotropolis megablock module, very behind schedule. I have to swap out some of the EMT I'm using with a heavier gauge to support the weight of the ceiling I'm adding.

@MakersHour Q1: what's up?

A1: Hello. Last weekend I worked on some support structures for a ceiling for my cyberpunk corpo bar for #Neotropolis. The structure needs to be transportable and storable, and while assembling it, I realized my design would be bulky. So I need to redesign a little so it to collapse more.

I now have the slow spinning cinematic #cyberpunk fan via #SimpleFOC - about 50rpm looks good.

(This is for my bar at #Neotropolis)

Early this spring the alpha version of this #immersive #art experience debuted at #Neotropolis.

Just got invited to bring it back for a party here in the #PNW as well as the Upcoming Osmosis #festival. Getting started on building the Beta soon!

The Tower is a #cyberpunk #psychic and #esoterica shop offering classic divination alongside experimental collaborative theater. Participants explore the future of identity and death in the age of corporate #AI, reflecting on our lost ability to listen and the need to diversify the data we as natural intelligences absorb. Through interactive experiences and dialogue, The Tower draws parallels between AI’s self-reinforcing hallucinations and the human echo chambers shaped by fragmented media and social discourse.

@minmi @pluralistic I forgot to get a pic but my neighbor at #Neotropolis had one that said:

Result of many months of work - over 15,000 LEDs to make a dim room. For #neotropolis

The triangles on the front are segments of 32 addressable LEDs, but were just solid white most of the time. The window clock is sheets of WS2816 driven by Novastar processor. The columns are RGBW DMX512. (one color per column.)

The columns are laser cut. The mirror pieces are CNC'd with my home brew CNC. (Because the edges are beveled) The counter top & window are routed with CNC'd templates for the arcs.
