I photographed When Even Birds Sing the Blues on a rainy day in Yokohama, Japan, in 2013 through a transparent umbrella using Fuji Neopan 400 35mm film. To me, it has a strong sense of melancholy, but is ultimately optimistic – rain never lasts forever and even the darkest cloud has a silver lining.
