I no longer trust *anything* that the #Quisling hacks on the #Zionist-run #BBC spew out! Section 1: The BBC's Editorial Standards

Treating everything as personal conflict is a dead end

Let’s focus on being honest, the most exhausting and destructive habit in activist and alternative tech spaces is the blinded reflex to turn disagreement into personal conflict. Someone challenges an idea, and it becomes an attack, names a pattern of behaviour, and suddenly it’s a vendetta. Someone points at structural problems and gets accused of targeting individuals. This is #stupidindividualism in its purest form, and it’s #nothingnew. It’s not only about difficult personalities […]

@Bot4Sale
#Labor already has made some changes to the #RBA Board composition in the hope of bringing a more diverse set of competencies (not sure if it is working or not — haven’t paid much attention to that). As for financial levers, ‘printing’ money, setting the Cash rate, regulating banking and issuing Bonds is the extent of their economic toolkit. They have one main job and that it to manage inflation (though the arbitrary 2% to 3% set range is ludicrous in my view). There are other responsibilities which complete the monetary policy portfolio but they don’t have as major an impact on inflation. The problem is the RBA’s steadfast application of #NeoLiberal (aka neo-classical) economic thinking and the #NAIRU (non-accelerating inflation rate of unemployment - wikipedia). Modern Money Theory (#MMT) would do away with the separtion of economic responsibility and bring the RBB back into govt control.

Again, happy to have any economist jump in to correct my assumptions and understanding.

@InsurgoFormica
Well, I think we’re going to have to disagree on that because I think that the Board is captivated by the ‘job market’ figures as unemployment is deemed too high for #NeoLiberal #MonetaryPolicy (paraphrasing from Greg Jericho’s observations of the RBA). And, as I tooted before, the current economic data do not yet reflect any impact of the previous #CashRate rise.

But, I guess time will tell (6 months at least by my reckoning) if the RBA made the right or wrong decision this time around.
No worries dude, we have a different opinion that’s all.

FWIW, I have yet to see anything from the Dems that doesn't focus on how bad #47&Co. are. Of course, attacking the Republicans as "bad" is the only consistent message I have seen from the Dems in over 20 years.

Which is a shame - but you know, if they are not willing to challenge the #Neoliberal myth and fallacy, they cannot pursue meaningful changes. And from what I see from the DCCC and the fractured D's in the house, I'm not optimistic.

It's a pity, when we have visionaries like Sanders, AOC & the Squad, Mamdani actually developing policies that will address the problems we face without sacrificing the rights of disfavored minorities.

@vowe It was never about #ageverification!

It was about government having become impotent to regulate big tech. It was about the #neoliberal #ideology having invaded every nook & cranny of our lives. Even children have to serve the interests of shareholders in #BigTech companies, who won’t be held accountable for making their products safe for children.

Instead we hand over what remains of our #privacy to generate even more money & power for shareholders, disguised as care.. 🤮

The #encryptionist detour

Let’s look back to before the #Fediverse, to be honest about the last two decades of #openweb failure, for a long time we got pulled off the path. Not only by enemies, but by a mix of fear, fashion, and half-understood technical “solutions” that felt right to fearful people at the time. The rise of the dogmatic, blinded #encryptionist mindset came out of real conditions of mass surveillance revelations (Snowden era), common sense #neoliberal distrust of states and corporations and the […]
