Patrick of #NeoOffice just addressed a 14 year old feature request for #LibreOffice to support #QuickLook on #macOS:

Fantastic work. There is some fine-tuning that could happen, but that are separate issues to be discussed. Generally this works great and it is amazing to finally see Quick Look support after sooooooo many years.

Super nice #macOS related fixes upcoming in #LibreOffice πŸ’ͺ ❀️

macOS dictation had a problem where dictated text would only show, once you make a pause speaking. That was inconvenient as it is much easier to gather your thoughts when spoken text appears immediately.

Another issue that has been ongoing for many many years was, that when you scrolled the sheet in calc and while scrolling was still ongoing pressed cmd for some operation, the zoom level would change. This extremely annoying behavior is no longer.

Both fixes done by
#PatrickLuby of #NeoOffice - we should all thank him!

Will take some time for those to trickly down into stable, but 25.2 will bring those fixes for sure.

@libreoffice The now abandoned #NeoOffice fork was my go-to office suite on MacOS even though Iβ€˜ve installed Libreoffice on any Windows PC I got my hands on πŸ˜€ Is there any way or plans to make LibreOffice feel more native on MacS? Is the work that NeoOffice did lost to closed source or could it be salvaged?
@levlaz I still use Neo Office, sounds like it is good I stuck to it. #neooffice

What a pity, I just saw that #NeoOffice for MacOS has been discontinued. Unfortunately, the original #LibreOffice just doesn't feel right on a Mac. Don't get me wrong -- LibreOffice is amazing and I'm installing it on every Linux and Windows PC I'm administering.

But on a Mac it feels slow and has lots of visual bugs: the cursor tends to leave behind pixel dirt, tooltips are flickering while resizing a column in Calc... NeoOffice had none of that. It felt way more native.

I used #NeoOffice and #Aquamacs on iBook G4 many years ago. I got injured.
