Neo noir rarely works today. It gets the look right with black and white, deep shadows and stylish silhouettes, but it forgets the people. It looks like noir, but it never feels like it.
Films like Chinatown and LA Confidential understood the heart of it, and they did it in full color.

The last 3 episodes of Spider-Noir lose some narrative steam, but overall the series does a great job of being true to the noir genre as it cracks the mold and adds humor and superheroes.

Worth watching.
