The Church of Santa María de la Antigua has stood in the city of #valladolid #spain since the 12th century. The #romanesque portico on the north side and the Romanesque tower date from this time period. The rest of the building is #gothic and #neogothic dating from the 14th century.

This mourning hall was built in the 1890s, and has a Neo-Gothic architectural style. The long corridor is lined with cubicles. Each one is partitioned by metal walls, with a matching metal door.

Inside each is a low stone slab with a stained glass window to provide natural light. In these cubicles, the family and friends could say goodbye to the deceased in private.

82. Sunburst

🧠 Glasgow Uni looked great in the setting sun. I really wanted to try some 'breaking the rules' effects by taking shots facing the sun (mirrorless cameras have electronic viewfinders so I wasn't risking eye damage!)

⭐I love the rays coming from the sunlight disappearing behind the buildings. I also like the purple and green streaks to the left (I'm sure they've a technical name I don't know).

➡️ I took this quickly and had to rotate it so the lamppost was straight but that cut off more of the building at the left than I wanted.

🧠 This is part of the view out our back windows. I always thing the old Gartnavel Royal building looks good framed by the modern houses closer to us.

⭐ I think the way the light hits the old hospital and the nearer house bricks to highlight them looks good.

➡️ I thought I could've gone more dramatic with the sky but it ends up looking unnatural.

The ruins of the medieval (12-13th century) castle and the 19th century neo-gothic church, both built on the grand late ancient Roman estate (palastvilla), from the 4th century AD.
