This is my mother being approached by a vendor.

After the seeing the Abu Simbel temples, the only path to the parking lot is via the stores selling souvenirs and local goods. Our guide alerted us to the persistence of the vendors but we all understood that they needed to make a living.

One was so persistent and even gave us a friendly challenge, "if I guess what country you are from in 3 tries, you will buy this cloth from me."

I agreed. He could not guess from what country we were from even if I gave him 6 attempts to guess.

But we ended up buying whatever he was selling due to his good character.

Always be kind.

My photos inside the small temple at Abu Simbel. The small temple is less impressive and is really much smaller inside.

The size of the statues along the main hallway at the main temple of Abu Simbel.

My video inside the main temple facing towards the entrance. You can see the tourists, and this was not even the peak season.

My wife is telling me to take a photo of her in between the 2 huge statues.

My photos (and selfies) of the four statues inside the Great Temple of Abu Simbel, which are of the gods Amun-Ra, Ptah, Ra-Horakhty, and the deified king Ramesses II. The statues are carved into a black wall in the sanctuary of the temple.

The architects of ancient Egypt in the 13th century BCE aligned the temple so that on October 22 and February 22, the sun’s rays enter into the sanctuary to illuminate the sculptures on the wall, except for the statue of Ptah, the god associated with the underworld, which remains in shadow.

Some people photos outside the Main Temple at Abu Simbel.

It is almost impossible to get a "solo" (all to yourself photo) at Abu Simbel. I just patiently waited for everyone to rush inside the temple and simply waited outside.

"Abu Simbel, site of two temples built by the Egyptian king Ramses II (reigned 1279–13 bce), now located in Aswān muḥāfaẓah (governorate), southern Egypt. In ancient times the area was at the southern frontier of pharaonic Egypt, facing Nubia. The four colossal statues of Ramses in front of the main temple are spectacular examples of ancient Egyptian art." --- Britannica

My compressed video. Walking towards the main temple at Abu Simbel. Again, that awesome hair-standing feeling while approaching this ancient site.

My photo at Abu Simbel.

"The temple of Hathor and Nefertari, also known as the Small Temple, was built about 100 m (330 ft) northeast of the temple of Ramesses II and was dedicated to the goddess Hathor and Ramesses II's chief consort, Nefertari. This was in fact the second time in ancient Egyptian history that a temple was dedicated to a queen. The Abu Simbel complex, and other relocated temples from Nubian sites such as Philae, Amada, Wadi es-Sebua, are part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site known as the Nubian Monuments." --- Wikipedia
