Sloppy first prototype, 🤷♀️, that's why I started in the back-😜. So hopefully I manage to border the whole brim with both sides looking better than this first one.😅
(Hyperfocusing on this hat so I don't watch that POS's SOTU. I'll watch Josh Johnson or Trae Crowder make fun of it later.... y'kno, so I don't lose my dang mind)
#crochet #needlelace or does this count as #embroidery ??
The #AdventCalendar for #lace this year was a quiz about stamps. The answer has been posted now and you can see lace making stamps from around the world.
Every year Jean Leader makes a #lace #AdventCalendar. Each day a new piece of lace is revealed behind the doors.
Today's piece is one of the special ones that offers the pattern too. Click on the 2 below the image to see the instructions for this tiny wreath.
I might try it. I need a little ornament for a gift package.
My supervisor is unimpressed with my second #Carrickmacross lace attempt. She also stole the sleeve for the new #SalemMA witch embroidery scissors when I wasn't looking.
For #WIPWednesday, I have finally completed another piece from the Lace Museum #LaceMarathon. It was a great day at the June solstice where they had 24 hours of lace class appetizers. Small projects to get your feet wet.
This was a #NeedleLace piece of sun and moon. I decided to add beads to commemorate the recent aurora.
It was fun. I think I made progress, especially on the new-to-me Venetian picots. Ha!
I think I need to get better at thread choices too. But that will come with practice.
I did my first #Carrickmacross lace this week. It's really an odd construction. You place pattern + netting + fine muslin in a sandwich and work through it all. Later you cut away either fabric or netting or both.
I don't have the right scissors, but otherwise I was able to do the beginner piece. Mistakes were made. But I liked it.
#WIPWednesday is a fitting sun #needlelace piece. I'm still catching up on the Lace Marathon projects from this summer (24 hours of lace straight!).
But I love that today I'm thinking about the sun and the aurora show--I think it might change my plans for the swirly bit now....
Mmm.... Lace retreat in #Victoria #Canada.
Doesn't look like theirs has workshops, just lace and relax.
