Si è concluso con esito positivo un delicato intervento di soccorso sui Monti Nebrodi, dove 32 turisti stranieri, tra cui due minori, erano rimasti isolati nei pressi del torrente Caprino, nel territorio di San Fratello. L’improvviso innalzamento del livello dell’acqua, causato dalle piogge, aveva reso impossibile il rientro del gruppo.
L’allarme è stato lanciato alla Centrale Operativa del 118, che ha immediatamente attivato il Soccorso Alpino e Speleologico Siciliano (CNSAS). I tecnici delle stazioni Etna Nord ed Etna Sud, già impegnati in un altro intervento ad Acireale, si sono diretti rapidamente verso l’area, mentre veniva mobilitata anche una squadra specializzata in operazioni in ambiente acquatico.
Le operazioni si sono svolte in stretta collaborazione con Sagf, Vigili del Fuoco, Carabinieri e Corpo Forestale. Fondamentale l’intervento dell’elicottero dei Vigili del Fuoco, che ha consentito di verricellare un tecnico oltre il torrente per predisporre una complessa evacuazione. I turisti sono stati trasferiti uno alla volta tramite una teleferica, con il supporto di un gommone, nonostante la forte corrente.
Una volta messi in salvo, sono stati trasportati con mezzi fuoristrada fino alla viabilità ordinaria, dove li attendevano le ambulanze del 118 per i controlli sanitari. Nessuno ha riportato conseguenze gravi.

A delicate rescue operation on the Monti Nebrodi concluded successfully, where 32 foreign tourists, including two minors, were stranded near the Caprino stream in the territory of San Fratello. The sudden rise in water level, caused by the rain, made it impossible for the group to return.
The alarm was raised to the 118 Operational Center, which immediately activated the Sicilian Alpine and Speleological Rescue Service (CNSAS). Technicians from the Etna Nord and Etna Sud stations, already engaged in another operation in Acireale, quickly headed to the area, while a specialized team in aquatic environment operations was also mobilized.
The operations took place in close collaboration with Sagf, Firefighters, Carabinieri, and the Forest Corps. The intervention of the Firefighters’ helicopter was crucial, allowing a technician to be winched across the stream to prepare a complex evacuation. The tourists were transferred one by one via cable car, with the support of a motorboat, despite the strong current.
Once safe, they were transported by off-road vehicles to the normal road network, where ambulances from 118 were waiting for medical examinations. No one suffered serious consequences.
