Blutroter Himmel über Kreta sorgt für spektakuläre Szenen.
Ein ungewöhnliches Naturschauspiel sorgt derzeit auf Kreta für Aufsehen: Der Himmel erscheint in einem intensiven Rotton, als läge ein Filter über der gesamten Insel. Verantwortlich dafür ist feiner Saharastaub, der durch starke Winde aus Nordafrika bis ins Mittelmeer getragen wurde.

Hier ist das Loch im Detail. Gut zu sehen auch wieviel Sand auf die Strasse geworfen wird (bei hohen Wellen durch Südwind) … soweit ich gehört habe, diskutiert die Gemeinde noch, was da zu tun ist. Bevor die Touristensaison anfängt, sollte besser was passieren, da muss der Bus durch.

The 2 weeks of snow of Jan/Feb 2022 were the most snow since 1967 on the mediterranean #island of #Naxos. Most people had no memory of that much snow. Usually we get 1-3 days with a bit of snow every 2-3 years in the upper part of the island.

The "north coast road" (as I personally call it) offers great views over the sea. When planning to cycle on it, keep in mind to look out for wind direction. And don't forget that there is a lot of climbing despite it being nominally on the coast.
