Little lunch (Digital, R6)

🇺🇦UA: Коли я щойно переїхала в Міннесоту, то ганялася за кожною білкою з камерою. На комп’ютері накопичувалися терабайти білячих фото, а сусіди дивилися як на скажену, бо тут білок стільки, що ніхто на них уваги не звертає. Тільки біля мого першого будинку їх жило з десяток, напевно. З часом я теж заспокоїлася і звикла не помічати.

А потім ми переїхали до нового району - тут майже немає великих дерев, тож з дрібних ссавців біля дому тільки кролі та миші. А білки залишились десь далі, і я знову почала їх фотографувати, коли трапляється нагода.

У Міннесоті мешкають три різновиди білок: сірі, чорні та руді (на фото руда). Вони помітно відрізняються від українських, насамперед тим, що в них немає тих симпатичних китичок на вухах.

Цікаво, що чорні білки, це не окремий вид, а варіація сірих. Їхній колір зумовлений домінантним геном, тож теоретично вони могли б майже витіснити сіру популяцію. Але чорне хутро взимку робить їх дуже помітними на снігу для хижих птахів і саме ці пташки допомагають зберігати баланс.

А ще колись у центральному парку довго жили білки-альбіноси. Майже ручні. Чи залишилися ще їхні нащадки не знаю, але часом про це згадую, коли буваю в тому районі.
