Have we passed ‘peak sheep’? | The-14

UK sheep numbers are declining as diets, subsidies and farming economics change. Can new roles in conservation, grazing and wool support national flocks future?

I just want a #broom made of #NaturalFibres for sweeping our timber floors. Finding one is proving more difficult than I had imagined.

Getting quite excited about the concept of learning to make a basket with, probably grass for future bub to sleep in. I've got a dozen YouTube tutorials open at the moment, and while nothing looks quite like what I'm hoping to create, I'm hoping enough basic technique in there for me to figure it out over the next 6 months.

Meanwhile, if anyone here has any tips or tricks, I'd love to hear them :)

I was meaning to post a whole load of photos from Buxton a few weeks ago but then I was busy (in a good way) and then I was tired and I'm not quite sure how we got to December so quickly. But anyway, here's one lovely thing I saw at The Green Man Gallery (amongst lots of other lovely things) - nettle brushes by the Well Keepers Art Group

1/2 Before #FastFashion, with irresponsible exploitation of ressources and workers, people invented ingenious methods to develop #naturalFibres.
I made #plantFibres myself by hand and it is indeed #slowFashion! The black hair is from a neighbour's #horse, the greyish one I combed with a dog comb from #hemp. The #fibre waste I donate to the birds. Now I feel the urge in former times to invent machines for such a slog! #culturalHeritage #fibreArts #fiberArts @fibrearts @fiberarts
Getting ready for a craft fair next weekend. Pure Angora rabbit wool from our much loved bunnies made into hats and scarves. Bunnies get their haircut every 3 months and live together in a cage-free colony. #NaturalFibres #naturalfibers #Knitting #SlowFashion #SustainableFashion
