Our cultivated native California grapes have a bumper crop this year. The house Northern Mockingbird pair will be very pleased this fall. And there should be enough for us to make a delightful syrup that goes well with vanilla ice cream #NativeGarden #Grapes

I think this sphinx moth had just pupated since it wasn’t in any mood to fly off. I disturbed it while weeding a clump of native California fuchsias (I’ve been busy gardening before upcoming travel) #SphinxMoth #NativeGarden

Minor rant that's not a subtoot of anyone.

Websites that are focused on "native" plants that do not clearly and unequivocally state where, are more harmful than good.

The native plants of SE Asia can be invasive in N Europe.
The native plants of N America can be invasive in N Africa.
Even the native plants of SW USA can be invasive in NE USA.

Identify the location you're talking about or well meaning people will become frustrated when they plant "natives" and have issues.

It's creeping cucumber season here, yayyyyyy! They're tasty little nibbles, look like tiny watermelons but taste like cucumbers. The vine and flowers are really cute too. I bet they must make wonderful pickles, just haven't had time to find out.

It's baby anole season, which is basically the time of year I stalk every baby Green Anole (Anolis carolinensis) to try and take a million photos. They must all think I'm really weird. This little one is hiding behind the leaf of my Button Bush (Cephalanthus occidentalis)

The Two-spotted Longhorn Bee (Melissodes bimaculatus) is another one of my frequent garden visitors. You can see a male in the middle of a Showy Evening Primrose Oenothera speciosa) and a female hovering close by Lemon Beebalm (Monarda citriodora.)
