As you celebrate #mentoring during #NationalMentoringMonth dig deeper to understand who is served, by what type of program. See danielbassill319958.substack.com/p/january-is...
January is National Mentoring Month

As you celebrate the act of mentoring, think of the infrastructure needed.

I did search for #NationalMentoringMonth and found only my own posts.

Where are all the people from the youth development, education, social capital and mentoring worlds?

Organized, site-based tutor, mentor & learning programs can connect volunteers w many different backgrounds w kids w limited networks due to concentrated poverty. It's a form of bridging #socialcapital. Find and support programs like this in your community. #NationalMentoringMonth

I began my volunteer involvement with tutor/mentor programs in 1973 when I joined the tutoring program at the Montgomery Ward Corporate Headquarters in Chicago. I was matched with a 4th grade boy named Leo and we met every Tuesday after my work day ended. We're still connected over 50 years later!
