From my camping trip earlier this month. These montane wildflowers grow low to the ground with the blossoms only 5- 6" high. In late summer they will tilt up to present feathery plumes from whence they get their "smoke" moniker.

I also scouted campsites for when a friend comes from out of town. We're supposed to go on the boat for 10 days, but she's coming early and I thought we'd kill some time doing some #camping in the #NationalForest and the #NorthCascadesNationalPark, where I suspect she's never been. (2/2)
