OCTOBER 14, 2025 | NATIONAL DESSERT DAY |

I haven't posted the info for #NationalADHDAwarenessMonth for yesterday or today. I appologize but the past couple of days have been a major challenge for me and focusing on much of anything has been quite a challenge. My trip took a lot out of me and I'm just not bouncing back like I'd hoped. Right now I consider it a major accomplishment if I can decide what I want to eat. So I'll catch up, but not tonight.
Day 3 of #NationalADHDAwarenessMonth is all about the secrets of the #ADHD brain. This article is so validating to me and explains so much! I was always told that I wasn't trying hard enough, wasn't good enough, or not working up to my potential, or that if I just put in a little more effort I could do so much more, and that still haunts me today, almost thirty years after leaving school. I feel like this is an article that the entire world needs to read! https://www.additudemag.com/secrets-of-the-adhd-brain/
Secrets of Your ADHD Brain

Most people are neurologically equipped to determine what's important and get motivated to do it, even when it doesn't interest them. Then there are the rest of us, who have attention deficit — ADHD or ADD — and the brain that goes along with it.

For anyone who is following my #NationalADHDAwarenessMonth posts, I'm also doing them as public posts on Facebook, where I'm also trying to add my own experiences and thoughts when possible. You don't have to be on Facebook to see them since they're public, but you can visit my page at https://www.facebook.com/kittytech/
The topic of #NationalADHDAwarenessMonth day 2 is Deficient Emotional Self-Regulation (#DESR). This is not currently recognized as a diagnostic component of #ADHD, however it's very common for these things to go together. With more research, this will hopefully change. https://www.additudemag.com/desr-adhd-emotional-regulation/
DESR: Why Deficient Emotional Self-Regulation is Central to ADHD (and Largely Overlooked)

DESR, or deficient emotional self-regulation, is a core facet of ADHD that carries significant consequences. However, it is not included the disorder’s diagnostic criteria. As new research confirms the prominent role emotional dysregulation plays in ADHD’s appearance and individual patient outcomes , that may be changing. Here, learn about DESR, its central role in ADHD, along with implications for diagnosis and treatment.

Welcome to October, which also happens to be #NationalADHDAwarenessMonth. Over the past 25 years, a lot has been learned about this, and I'm going to try to post some sort of fact or question about #ADHD each day this month. So, for today's question, Is ADHD a Cognitive Disorder or Behavioral Disorder? https://www.additudemag.com/is-adhd-a-behavioral-disorder-or-a-cognitive-disorder/
Is ADHD a Behavioral Disorder or an Executive Function Disorder?

What is executive function impairment or disorder, and how is it different than attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)? Are the symptoms adults and children with ADHD experience a result of a behavioral problem, or a cognitive one, a brain issue?
