I opened the front door this morning to go feed the #alpacas & #sheep & to water the plants.

A huge whiff of #onions or #garlic hit me.

I shrugged it off until midday when my better half came outside & asked what I’d been doing with garlic.

Hmmm. I might have to have a dig through our mound of #nasturtiums.

I planted their seeds in a large tub I’d failed growing garlic in last year.

Maybe the heat has revived them? Maybe?

No, not aroma from neighbours cooking.

I have 1 large pot that I just #plant #seeds in & see what, if anything, comes up.

In amongst some #beefriendly plants a few more #CherokeePurple #tomatoes have started appearing.

There should be LOTS of red #nasturtiums in there too - but no sign of them so far. ☹️

We’ve been feeding the livestock & doing a little #gardening.

It looks like the red #nasturtiums are finally appearing. We’ve got gazzillions of orange ones but I really like the reds.

@gardencatt Well, the snow did my #Nasturtiums in, but they had an impressive run!
#Nasturtiums #BloomScrolling Report for November 8th, 2025: This small batch of nasturtiums are still alive in #Ottawa #Ontario #Canada. 10-20 cm of snow on the way tomorrow, but not as cold as the past few nights. They are now covered. Will they survive this first snowfall?
Our nasturtiums love the cooler weather! I'm not sure, but it seems that the flowers are coming out deeper orange as the weather gets colder and the days get shorter.

I planted #nasturtiums all around my house and I've learned a lot. I was told that they like lots of sunlight and don't need much water, but I didn't find any of that to be true. They need water, and they seem to prefer morning sun. The afternoon sun baked lots of them into sad shriveled little twigs.

But one of them seems to have tapped into a waterline and it's started dropping dozens of seeds! I can see why they are so hard to get rid of now!

I planted #nasturtiums all around the house. In some shady places they got leggy and no blooms. In dry places they stayed very small and put off maybe one miniature bloom. But in this one spot on the east side of the house, exposed to morning sun but shaded from the afternoon heat by a bush they did very well in the sandy soil.
