3 Fatalists
There are only 3 enduring archetypes of the #fatalist: #Icarus, #Narcissus & #Sisyphus. Not cuz humanity lacks imagination but that our ways of failing are remarkably consistent.

Icarus is the fatalist of ascent: he believes in transcendence, the possibility of rising beyond limits despite warnings. His tragedy is indifference to consequence. He knows the wax will melt, still prefers the sky to the warning.

The myth of #Narcissus is on my mind a lot as I read about the algae, and I'm trying to figure out a reading that makes sense. In attempting to make Lincoln's Reflecting Pool about himself (which is what he is doing with all of DC, the US, and the world), Trump has destroyed it. So not like Narcissus. But like Narcissus, it is only a matter of time until he joins the algae.

Quest'anno in #ValleStura la #primavera è meravigliosamente lenta e così mi godo ancora oggi un bagno nel #profumo del #Narcissus poeticus; o selvatico. Ignoro la mazzetta colori dei "nasi" e posso solo descrivere il profumo come un mix di zafferano e nocemoscata. Ma fatico perché nel fitto del bosco #maggiociondolo e #biancospino spingono la loro pesante dolcezza.
