Evidence suggests that they were shot with their hands tied and buried in a pit. Several women reported that they were raped by the IDF, including a 14-year-old girl. At least two internal inquiries were initiated by the IDF, but their reports remain classified. This massacre was part of the Nakba, or Catastrophe, when 78% of the Palestine Mandate was unilaterally declared as Israel, 700,000 Palestinians were forced off their land, and 500 Palestinian villages were destroyed by Zionist militias. It also led to the creation of permanent Palestinian refugees and the denial of their right to ever return.
