Chinese company Safmax unveiled new nano-membrane fabrics that can withstand extreme heat of 2,192°F (1,200°C) without deforming, shrinking, or melting.

The material, showcased at China's Public Security Tech Expo, is waterproof, windproof, yet breathable. It can be applied to ordınary fabrics as thin as one percent of human hair.

Designed for firefighting suits and fire blankets, the innovation offers protection during battery fires and emergencies. Safmax says the material is a safer, more effective alternative to traditional flame-retardant cotton and multi-layered protective gear.
