The clafoutis turned out nicely and not too sweet. Next time I will seed the cherries, but leave them whole instead of cutting them in half, and use two brimming cupfuls - definitely room for more cherries in this dish.

More summer farewell dishes for the end of tomato season! Probably the best tomato soup I've made yet: roasted all those goodies on a sheet pan for about 35 minutes on 400 (see AltText), dropped them in a soup pot with a 28 oz can of peeled Italian tomatoes, 1/4 cup sun-dried tomatoes, and a cup of water. Simmered for about 45 minutes, cooled, and then pureed into roasted tomato heaven in a bowl.

Growing tomatoes in the south isn't for sissies. Our weather is really uncooperative - heat and humidity are brutal. In any event, there will be much more of THIS in the days and weeks to come if we are lucky: Tomato Galette on a ricotta-dill base with mozzarella pearls dotted over the top before baking.

I was going to make savory waffles for dinner, but somehow things took a turn and we ended up with bacon-cheddar pancakes on a bed of mixed, sautΓ©ed greens with lemon zest, kalamata olives and feta cheese. The batter seemed too thick for waffles which is likely because I failed to follow the recipe directions.
