The point of #Uber was to *not* have to haggle with cab & auto drivers — the subscription-model removes it with “suggested fares” 🤦🏽‍♂️:

@Suiseiseki I just looked into this, as to why the app is not available on the iPhone, and apparently both #ios and android have regional app stores. I personally have never noticed apps not being available in other regions on #android

Not being able to use #NammaYatri really sucks. She's planning on getting an Android phone next anyways, so this experience just cements that decision 😂

Imagine using an #iPhone and then travelling outside your "home region" where you might want to install an app for transportation (in this case: #NammaYatri ) but "you are not allowed" because Mr 🍎 says so

Is this the "it just works" that #apple-people always talk about? 😅😂

Never faced anything like this on #android 😶‍🌫️

I've been asking every hacker I meet to write a "ONDC for Hackers" blog.

From what I understand, it is an open standard for inter-communication in a closed network. The apps themselves do not connect to this network, they are merely the frontend to the servers that are part of the network.

So re-implementing #NammaYatri (which is on my TODO) will not get us access to the "network", it merely gets us access to the the NY API in front of the network.

Hey @nemo have you looked into the #ONDC or #NammaYatri APIs? How feasible is it to develop our own apps/frontends that plug in to the network?

If it works maybe I'll try something for #KaiOS 🤔

An autorickshaw hailing app from Bengaluru competes with Uber/Ola!

"An app called Namma Yatri, launched in November by the rickshaw drivers’ union, directly connects riders to drivers, with no commission for digital middlemen. It averages around 68,000 trips a day, from only 2,000 at the start of the year, and boasts more than 78,000 drivers and 1.4m customers on its platform."
