First Page Idol is back at #NWC48! Does your hook grab your target readers? Try out your first page on a live audience with the help of professional voice actors. Our audiobook narrators will read a stack of first pages out loud. Audience members will raise their hands when they lose interest. As the author, you’ll stay anonymous while getting feedback from readers. To submit work, email your first page with genre designation at the top to [email protected].

It’s almost time for this month’s volunteer meeting for NWC48!

Would you like to help plan, organize, and create the Pacific Northwest’s premier science-fiction and fantasy convention? Norwescon is always looking for volunteers, and our monthly Convention Committee planning meetings are a great way to get involved! Come pull back the curtain, meet the masterminds behind the event, and find out where your particular talents can be put to use!

Meeting Details

Come help join us as we plan the next Norwescon!

Our next meeting is Saturday, March 14.

10:30 to 11 a.m.: Newcomer Welcome
11 to 11:10 a.m.: Executive Introductions
11:10 a.m. to 1 p.m.: Department Breakouts
1 to 1:15 p.m.: Executive meeting (all welcome)
1:15 to 3 p.m.: Main ConCom meeting

The social media team will be doing short, three question volunteer interviews to be shared on Norwescon’s social media channels. If you are interested in participating please find Crystal Lloyd or listen for where the interview set up will be located at the meeting.

Location

This meeting is hybrid — you can join us in-person at the DoubleTree by Hilton Seattle Airport (our host hotel; check the display boards to verify which room we’ll be in) or you can join us on Zoom (Zoom link TBA)! The Zoom room will be open by 1 p.m.

Travel Note: Southbound I-5 will have lane restrictions across the Ship Canal Bridge, please plan for delays.

Norwescon meeting agendas and minutes, policies and procedures, bylaws, and other documents can be found on the Staff Info page of our website. Meeting agendas are posted a few days before each meeting; minutes are posted after they have been approved by the Exec team.

Conduct

The Norwescon code of conduct applies to all in-person and virtual gatherings. If you are joining us virtually and need to activate your camera or microphone during the meeting, we ask that you respect all of your fellow staff members and refrain from broadcasting inappropriate imagery, symbols, or language. If you need a neutral virtual background, a Norwescon background image is available on our website.
