New Orleans police deny wrongdoing after recruit detained by ICE

The New Orleans Police Department denies wrongdoing after U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement detained one of its recruits. Federal agents arrested police recruit Larry Temah, a Cameroonian national, who faces deportation. He was in the police academy and months from graduation. Temah entered the U.S. in 2015 on a visitor visa and later received conditional residency. His permanent residency application was denied due to fraud in 2022. The department claims it verified his employment eligibility and was unaware of ICE's interest until his arrest. The incident follows an immigration crackdown in New Orleans.

When she had a serious kidney #infection, she said, she avoided going to the #hospital because that was where Vicknair began grooming her. Though she once wanted #children of her own, she no longer feels equipped to be a #parent because she is #afraid she won’t be able to keep her kids safe.
