#WordWeavers 23. What are you careful about when writing?
Everything: Research, grammar, spelling, transitions, characterization, dialogue, plot, and how interesting it is. I make mistakes, but I am not sloppy.
#WordWeavers March 22: Is there a subject that's represented poorly in media that you'd like to cover in your work?
I mainly read Japanese literature, and the romance around possessiveness and jealousy is vile. While it occurs in my work, it is something to be overcome, not glorified.
#WordWeavers 21/3: Where does your MC fall, on a scale of timid to recklessly brave?
#WordWeavers 03/20 How much romance is in your story?
Typically, in my OG fiction, there is lots of slow-burn romance. It's hinted at early on, but it takes a long time to mature. At 29K in #TimeTravelingGhost the MCs are just becoming aware of an attraction. In #KonbiniIdol, the first kiss takes place at the end of volume 2. I'm not Iruma Hitoma, but I take my time.
#WordWeavers 19: Share something that makes your SC different from your MC.
#Aisisu is a crow. Sumika is human.
#Bijou is a material ghost. Emily is an ethereal ghost.
#WordWeavers March 16: Do you have any kind of ritual to get in the mood to sit down and write? If so, what is it?
I open my spreadsheet of ongoing projects and see what the highest priority is. I don't always do it, but it is a conscious choice. I post items marked for publication that day.
#WordWeavers 4 Mar: When was the last time your MC lied? Why?
#Bijou implied she didn't know the person that gropped her. It was social misdirection, since didn't want to get into details.
#WordWeavers Introduce your MC without telling us their age, gender, job and who they are to others (e.g. friend, parent etc.)
From #Airisu
I swooped down, landing on a branch to take in the scene: They were dancing. With each swing of their arms, stomp of their heel, and swish of their hips and kimono, a shimmering mist arose. They sang, accompanying their dance with a song like evening crickets or morning dovesβancient, yet new as dawn.
