Webb’s infrared view of NGC 2566 reveals a barred spiral galaxy with bright arms and star-forming clouds. The rays around the center are diffraction spikes from the telescope. About 76 million light-years away, NGC 2566 is similar in size to the Milky Way.

#NGC2566 is a barred #Spiral #Galaxy in the constellation of #Puppis.
It has a prominent bar of stars across its center, with spiral arms extending from the ends of the bar. From our perspective, it appears tilted, giving it an almond shape and the nickname "cosmic eye."
