Here is the Dwarf Mini’s observation of #Barnard33 / #IC434 #TheHorseheadNebula. Above you can see #NGC2024 #TheFlameNebula making a guest appearance. #dwarflabs #dwarfmini #space #astronomy #amateur
Had the s50 and Dwarf Mini doing some overnight observation before it was time to look at the lunar eclipse. Here is the Dwarf Mini’s observation of #NGC2024 #TheFlameNebula. Tried 60 second exposures on this observation. #dwarflabs #dwarfmini #space #astronomy #amateur
Despite the label, I think my target was IC 432, the faint glow around the two stars in the center. IC 434 is actually the nebula complex with the Horsehead. As a bonus, got another nice shot of the Flame Nebula NGC 2024 at the bottom. #astrophotography #seestar #ic432 #ngc2024
So my target here was the little bright white emissions nebula NGC 2023 in the center, but I also serendipitously got nice shots of the Horsehead Nebula B 33 to the lower right and the Flame Nebula NGC 2024 at the top. #astrophotography #seestar #ngc2023 #ngc2024 #b33
Next up decided to give the Odyssey Pro its turn to view #NGC2024 #TheFlameNebula. #unistellar #odysseypro #space #astronomy #amateur
Good Friday afternoon I have been busy this morning and not able to post last night’s observations from the s50. First went to do a fresh image of #NGC2024 #TheFlameNebula / #IC434 #TheHorseheadNebula. #seestar #S50 #space #astronomy #amateur

A couple of weeks ago I shot IC434 - the Flame Nebula along with Barnard 33 - the Horsehead Nebula.

I added another 2.5 hours to that shot overnight, and the extra detail is amazing, even though the restacking rejected a lot of frames from both. In the end I got an extra hour of exposure.

The image is centred on Alnitak - one end of Orion's Belt. Off in the corner we have the middle of the belt, Alnilam.

To the right of Alnitak is NGC2024, and above and to the left is IC434 - The Flame Nebula, with the Horsehead Nebula on the right hand edge. In between the two nebulae, though, is a third one - NGC2023.

Also scattered around are three other tiny and/or faint nebulae - IC431, IC432 (both below NGC2024) and IC435 (to the right of NGC2023).

Lastly, in the top left quadrant we have Sigma Orionis.

So we have a lot going on, and it makes for a pretty composition (in my opinion).

Shot on a Dwarf3, 3hr 58 minutes, 60s@80, OIII/Ha filter. Post processed in Stellar Studio and Snapseed.

"End of the Belt"
This is a fun shot, centred on Alnitak - one end of Orion's Belt. Off in the corner we have the middle of the belt, Alnilam.
