Don't miss out on the fun! The #NEMSLinux Developer Lockdown is at the half-way mark! A full workweek of open source development, bug squashing, feature request implementation, and tonight's interactive Google Meet with the developer of NEMS Linux... ME!

Delicious way to start Day 2 of the #NEMSLinux Developer Lockdown! Leftover risotto, a couple scrambled eggs, a low-salt turkey patty and some cherry tomatoes from my mom-in-law's garden. 💪 😍 A super easy, healthy and tasty one-pan meal.
The #NEMSLinux Developer Lockdown is underway! Day 1 complete! https://www.patreon.com/posts/142193347

My open-source project #NEMSLinux has its code organized into 23 Git repositories. Today begins our 2nd annual Developer Lockdown where I focus an entire workweek on development, bug fixes and the next major release, but tracking issues is a pain across so many repos.

So I created a tool that aggregates and lists all public issues for a Git user automatically! It's my style to share nifty things I make, so here you are: https://category5.tv/tools/git/issues/

No token needed, exports to CSV, free.

#Maker Project Update: A #Kingston USB Flash Drive replaces the MicroSD as the main hard drive on the #RaspberryPi 5, running #NEMSLinux 1.7 Build 2. I also added a DHT Thermal/Humidity Sensor on the far side of the chassis. With these two upgrades, the NEMS 1U #Enterprise Appliance is ready for field use!

Attached: 4 images My #RaspberryPi #NEMSLinux #Server build in a rack-mount PoE Network Switch is going great! The Pi gets power and networking through a 6-inch Cat6 cable passing through the faceplate to one of the PoE ports. The whole thing will be uplinked to the network. The self-contained custom enterprise monitoring server powers up and doesn't even explode (always a bonus). 🤣 I ensured GPIO clearance, and shielded the metal components as added assurance (though not needed).

As a #Maker I found this template from @RPiSpy really helpful! I'm building a #NEMSLinux Server out of a 1U rack-mountable PoE network switch, and embedding the #RaspberryPi 5 inside the switch. I taped this to the inside of the switch and used a center punch to dent the holes, which I'll now drill out and replace with standoffs. And yes, the template is compatible with the RPi 4 and 5 too, even though the file is from 2012. 😊 Brilliant! Raspberry Pi Mounting Hole Template for Printing - Raspberry Pi Spy

Download the Raspberry Pi mounting hole template to accurately drill holes and attach your Pi to surfaces or cases. The template is available as a PDF in A4 and US Letter sizes. It includes templates for all Pi models and the official Pi Camera module.

As the city of #Toronto sleeps, #NEMSLinux keeps us sysadmins aware of any potential issues with our corporate infrastructure.
My sump pump died. I had to hacksaw the PVC to remove it, and decided I never wanted it to be such an ordeal again if I need to service it. So I installed an inline coupler instead of cementing the new piping in. Next, I have water sensors to connect to my #NEMSLinux server to notify me if the pit ever fills up again.
Very cool @nicd - I too enjoy having my own hosted solutions, including a Minecraft server (which is sorely under-utilized) :) Is yours a LAMP/LEMP stack? If yes, talk to me about my monitoring agent for #NEMSLinux that proactively notifies you (complete with a sexy tactical display) of issues such as high CPU temperature, low disk space, high load, low memory, etc.
