New Collective Quantified Goal #NCQG
We call for an urgent revision of the New Common Quantified Goal of Climate Finance. We are on a current 2.8°C trajectory, and 2°C Goal of the Paris Agreement is not good enough. It is vital to small island nations, and the world, to deliver on the Paris Agreement goal of 1.5°C. Every 0.1°C counts.
🗞️🌍 COP29 Azerbaijan in Baku: Loss and Damage
At the conclusion of COP29, Parties agreed to a New Collective Quantified Goal (#NCQG) of $300 billion a year by 2035, some of which will be allocated to loss and damage. Achieving the NCQG means mobilising finance for mitigation, adaptation, and loss and damage. This requires a joint effort from governments and the private sector, because only then can climate finance align with the #ParisAgreement and #Agenda2030.”
Groups including Oxfam International, WWF and the Global Climate and Health Alliance have slammed the latest latest New Collective Quantified Goal (NCQG) text at COP29, with Oxfam International's climate justice lead, Safa’ Al Jayoussi labelling it a "shameful failure of leadership". #cop29 #ncqg #climatefinance #sustainability

Oxfam has labeled the latest climate finance text at COP29 a 'shameful failure of leadership', suggesting that no deal would be better than a bad deal.
On 11 November 2024, this year's UN Climate Change Conference COP29 will start in Baku (Azerbaijan). The main topics are climate finance and progress in implementing ambitious climate action. UBA experts are also part of the German delegation and are supporting the German government and the EU in the negotiations.
