This wouldn’t now be an issue if the APS was in control of all APS position up and down the rank ladder including DepSecs. Ruled and regulated by a civil service dedicated to apolitical service to the govt of the day.

Polies get paid enough to look after themselves thank you. Despite the evidence, we have some of the highest remunerated polies in the world in an effort to dissuade corruption and cronyism… that seems to work well doesn’t it?

I am rather surprised I haven't seen an AWS IoT alternative that sits on top of something like NATS. I feel like this could be low hanging fruit to write a service that does most of the things AWS IoT does by pub/sub-ing to all the $aws/* reserved topics and implementing them with NATS as the MQTT broker.

I could’ve guessed that any $$ figure quoted by the #Nats pinned to the cost of #NetZero as an argument for going all out RWNJs on #FossilFuels and #NuclearEnergyGeneration was going to be quoted out of context and wildly off the mark. It is true that the electrification and green energy generation transition is sizeable. But in the context of alternatives it is a mountain of cash less than would otherwise be required.

“on Wednesday, NZA – which includes academics from Princeton University, the University of Melbourne and the University of Queensland – released a statement saying its cost estimates had been misrepresented.

“Different individuals and groups have been misrepresenting key cost estimates from [our] Australia Project as ‘the cost of Australia reaching net zero’,” it said. “These misrepresented costs have typically ranged from $1.5 trillion to $9 trillion.”

The group said the $9tn figure related to work carried out in 2023, and was an estimate of the cumulative capital investment that could be needed by the year 2060 “for both the domestic and export energy systems” under a scenario where Australia was aiming for net zero greenhouse gas emissions.

But NZA said the “large majority” of that capital – also referenced by the Liberal MP Andrew Hastie – would come from “overseas customers and not by Australians”. (Source The Guardian)

Furthermore, that expenditure comprises a mix of public and private investments. #DavidLittleproudMP and his delusional mates are lying through their teeth in order to remain relevant in the polity (fat chance of that, the dodo sadly passed and so will the Nats)
